Description
This beautiful silver chatelaine is from the Hanau Germany manufacture (Jacob) Storck & (Louis) Sinsheimer, active from 1874-1926. The hook has wonderful relief work of a soldier on a horse surrounded by lovely C scrolls. The back of the clip shows the pre 1886 pseudo mark of the pinecone with what appears to be an I right below and the maker marks for Storck & Sinsheimer. There is also an unidentified mark of CD in a cartouche, possibly from the assayer. Each item is attached to a detailed chain. Chatelaine has two perfume bottles, one velvet lined scissor holder and one locket with a small beveled glass mirror inside. None of these pieces have any visible markings but all do test for sterling. Measures approx 14" long. From the estate of Dottie & David Hoover of Frey's Antiques.
Condition
Very good for age. One perfume bottle is missing some of the marchasite stones, one of the hooks on a chain is loose so it does not "lock" the perfume bottle in place.
