Schilde waren äusserliche Zeichen des Status und der Clan-Zugehörigkeit des Besitzers. Verwendet wurden die Schilde anlässlich zeremonieller Rituale, bei der Jagd als Tarnung und als Schutz bei Kampfhandlungen.
