Description
This is a very large painting on canvas of a WWI era graveyard being bombed by an airplane during WWII. Rows of white crosses, surrounded by red poppies, recede into the distance. In the background are ruined buildings, rows of barbed wire, cannons, and explosions, as bombers fly overhead. Probably painted in the 1940's or 50's, it is unsigned. It has been lightly tacked to a wooden frame. For shipping, the two ends of the frame will be removed and it will be shipped rolled. You will need to reassemble the frame and reattach the ends of the canvas. There is a 3" tear in the bottom edge, and two small older nail holes at the top, where it was probably hung once, as well as the tacks and staples it is now mounted with. It is 43 1/2" high by 69 1/2" wide by 1" deep.
