Antique wooden box, made in the city of Mysore in Southern India for the British market. Intended as a tea caddy or trinket box. Made of quality tropical wood with superb fine inlay up front, displaying an ox-drawn cart and rider. Signed in the scene on the road marker - 2/7 MYSORE. Mysore (Mysuru) in the Southern Indian state of Karnataka is known and recognized for it's incredible fine woodwork and inlay. Brass hardware - hinges and front clasp, which is marked with a number 21 up front. British India (Raj India), 19th century.
