Fantastic large size wood handpainted trade sign. C&K Beverages, Coleman & Keating Co was located at 102 Sudbury St in Boston, Massachusetts. Michael Coleman and Edward Keating appear to have operated the company from 1900 through the 1920's. This sign has great contrast with lettering painted in a bright yellow/gold against a dark maroon background. Wonderful center trademark with opposing lions and typeset is shadowed in black giving it a very rich depth look.

The sign is made up of two wide solid wood boards, a vertical support additional boards are mounted to back, holding the top and bottom of the sign together.

The finish appears to have a cracquelure to finish and evidence of underlying paint colors. Finis appears to be a lacquer or varnish, likely added later to preserve the sign.
