Description
Glazed stoneware 1 brown 1 blue and brown. Unusual dog dish shape
Two unusual dog dish style pieces with similar applied relief designs. The larger, in brown glaze, was produced, based on the oval DOULTON LAMBETH stamp, between 1869-1872. The artist that may have been Emily M. Viner (known as a Senior Assistant in the Faience department between 1881-1887, but possibly also employed earlier and/or later). The smaller piece has an identical design in blue and brown glaze, and is featured in "Doulton Open Salts: Lambeth, Burslem, Royal," Pp. 42-43, Plate 95 (c. 1880-1902, based upon the Rosette DOULTON LAMBETH stamp, artist: Emily J. Partington) (2009)
