Description
Authentic ancient medieval artifact. French in origin, Middle Ages (possibly House of Capet/Capetian Dynasty - 928-1328 AD). Made of thick bronze, it is an emblem applique that would be attached to armor. Displays a cross form, with an escutcheon shield in the center, bearing six fleur-de-lis (Lilly Flower) forms. Shield is surrounded by leafed olive branches, two leaves below and three leaves on every other side. Remnants of blue-color EnamelSimilar emblems were used during Capetian France (10-14th centuries AD). Originally acquired in Bordeaux, France.
This artifact comes from the private collection of a notable American professor of Anthropology and Archaeologist, who conducted extensive research in Central America, the Middle East, Britain and the US during the latter years of the 20th century. He is the author of various books, essays and publications on the topic of Archaeology and his academic research into various fields of study

All original. Remnants of the original enameling. Patina and encrustations, developed over centuries.
