**First Time At Auction**

Etruria, northern Italy, Etrusco-Corinthian, ca. 630 to 540 BCE. A stout and sturdy terracotta cream-slipped aryballos with a round but stable base, a spherical body, a rounded shoulder tapering to a narrow neck, and a collared rim with an applied handle joining rim to body. The topside of the rim is decorated with a faint concentric circle motif that extends down onto its side. The body of the vessel boasts the image of a long-horned ibex grazing amongst a field of stippled and circular motifs. Vessels like this would have contained oils or other uncommon liquids and would have been seen in great numbers in typical Grecian domiciles. Size: 2.2" W x 2.375" H (5.6 cm x 6 cm).
