Folk Art teapot, made of thick, salt-glazed earthenware. Slip and applied decorations, with yellow, red and whiteHeart-form up front, surrounding the inscribed words MEIN UND DEIN (Mine and Yours). Made for the occasion of a wedding.
A note was found inside, from a previous collector - GERSTRUNGEN.
From the town of Gerstungen, on the River Werra in Thuringia, Germany, made during the mid/late 19th century. Pottery production in the town dates back to the 16th century, and this jug is a characteristic example of the specific type of redware/earthenware produced in the region
