This lot consists of a hand painted colored pencil illustration on paper, hand-signed "Andy Warhol" at bottom left. Image depicts a vibrant pink and black pistol. Done on a piece of stationary bearing the name of famed New York nightclub, Studio 54, a place frequented by Warhol and many of his celebrity cohorts. During the 1960s, death/dying emerged as a distinctive theme within the artwork of Andy Warhol. After an attempt on his life in 1968, Warhol made quite a few pieces portraying the snub-nosed pistol his attacker wielded. This work is a prime example of the Pop Art style made famous by modern artist Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987). Unframed piece measures approximately 8.5" x 13".
