This lot consists of a fine art print on paper, hand signed "Frida Kahlo" in graphite at bottom. Image depicts a woman of proud beauty, with painted lips, flushed cheeks, and dark, glistening eyes that peer from below a bushy brow line. Her eyes seem to demand an answer from the viewer that we cannot find in her own expression. The subject is surrounded by four small monkeys, who blend into their jungle-like surroundings and seem to cling to her like children to their mother. An iteration of the 1943 painting, "Self Portrait with Monkeys" by Frida Kahlo (Mexican, 1907-1954), who was especially fond of her many exotic animal companions.This charming, unframed piece measures approximately 8.25" x 11.75".
