Antique wine pitcher, made of striking bold to matte green colored parian ware. Intricate Bacchanalia scenes all over, in a classical taste, with intense, vivacious detail. A group of older men on one side, and young children riding donkey on the other. These are scenes from the childhood and adult life of Silenos, the most notorious wine drinker and follower of the Thracian God of Wine Bacchus. Wine and grape vine themes throughout. Supreme detail on a deep relief molded and hand sculpted figures. Circa 1817-1836, made by Minton, England. Marked on underside - No. 19, in a fancy raised scroll mark, which also includes the initial letter "M". A stamped number mark underneath - "12".
