Egypt, Romano-Egyptian Period, ca. 30 BCE to 2nd century CE. A mold-made redware votive figure depicting the god Harpocrates in a reclining position, perhaps at a banquet, holding a small amphora, with a larger bowl in front of him. Harpocrates was the god of silence, secrets, and confidentiality, and a member of the Triad of Alexandria, the three gods most venerated in that city. Size: 2.25" L x 4.5" W x 3.35" H (5.7 cm x 11.4 cm x 8.5 cm); 4.65" H (11.8 cm) on included custom stand.
