An 18-19th century arched tablet form carved of Burma jadite with deep relief carving of a seated and highly detailed
12 armed Buddha, the semi-translucent stone ranging from emerald green to pale violet. Smooth tactile feel from much handling, pierced at top for pectoral use, fine condition with slight abrasion at top back, not visable at front, 1 7/8" high x 1 1/4"; together with an ancient excavated nephrite jade cicada, an enlarged silk moth, the type used as a body plug in burial, this most closely related in style and type to the Yellow River regions, the Longshan group within the neolithic Liangzhu culture of nearly 5000 years back. The native jade of exceptional colors, ranges of greens through russet browns, nice condition, correct bow drilled piercing at back for use as a pectoral. Of high rounded thickness, 2 1/4" long, in nice condition.
