Exceptional French Military Model 1822 Service Pistol
French Military Model 1822 Percussion Service Pistol, made at the Chatellerault Arsenal, 1856-Dated, Choice Very Fine.
Dated "1856", an exceptional French Military Model 1822 Percussion Service Pistol made at the Chatellerault Arsenal. It has a 7 13/16" long, .69 cal., octagon-to-round iron barrel that is struck with multiple Arsenal and Inspector's marks, tang Engraved, "Mle 1822 bis" on the left side of breech #1486. Lock is marked, "Mre Imp ale de Chatellerault" and has an Inspector's stamp. Regulation brass and iron furniture stamped with multiple official arsenal and Inspector's marks. Stock is near perfect, sharp edges, minor spot stains, dings, scratches from years of actual use and handling. Its left side is stamped with multiple arsenal and Inspector's marks "ST ETIENNE", with #1486 and "D". The original ram rod lacking, otherwise this French Military Model 1822 Percussion Service Pistol is in good working condition.
