Moira Cue, Grace, 2017, oil on wood, 6 feet x 4 feet (or 72" x 48"). "Grace" is an abstract text-based large scale work with a pair of swans that form a yin/yang symbol. The word "grace" was translated by the artist using Google Translate into multiple languages. The artist also used two intricate alphabetical personal code books, the pink code, and the blue code, which substitute alchemy symbols for letters. The code books took hours to compile and were destroyed after being used in three paintings (Grace, Honesty, and Humility). The bird's feathers are created using peace lily leaves coated in paint and then pressed. The work also uses prints of thyme from the artist's garden.
