Description
Alexander Calder, American, 1898-1976. Gouache on Canson paper entitled "Cartes", depicting two figures at a round table playing cards, with two oversized cards in the midground, the five of spades and the seven of hearts. Signed and dated, 1971, at the lower right; paper contains watermark "Canson & Montgolfier Vidalon Les Annonay" along bottom and "Le Papier Lavis" and Canson trademark blind stamp upper right; in a decorated wood frame. Paper is toned overall, but appears to be in good condition. Paper is 43 1/4" x 29 1/4" high, 47 3/4" x 34 1/4" high overall.
