Two collectible books by author Charles L. Brooks. (1) “Roundabout to Canterbury.” Signed by author on half-title page. Fine binding by the famous bookbinder and author Whitman Bennett. Illustrations by Julia McCune Flory. Published 1926 by Harcourt, Brace & Co. (first thus). Bound in red-brown half-leather with five raised spines. Teg. Gilt titling and spine designs still fairly bright. Hinges tight with tips rubbed through at the very ends; three scuffs at top front corner. Chipped at top right spine. Minor soiling to cover. Text block fine. 346 pp. (2) “A Thread of English Road.” Signed by author (possibly facsimile) on half-title page. Fine binding in red-brown half-leather by the famous bookbinder and author Whitman Bennett. Published 1926 by Harcourt, Brace & Co. (third edition). Hinges tight. Teg. Tips rubbed through at very ends. Rear upper corner scuffed with front edge rubbed through. Chipped at top spine; small chip at bottom spine. Small bump bottom rear edge. Pea-size stain to lower front corner. Minor soiling to covers. Text block fine. 303 pp. Both books 6 x 8.75.
