United States, New York, Tiffany & Co, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A lovely 24K gold pin for a hat or tie with a slender body and a pointed tip. A pair of forked arms branch outwards from the top of the pin body and connects with a smooth, ovoid bezel. Within the bezel is a bichrome glass intaglio depicting Mars, the Roman god of war. He faces left with a full beard and wears his signature crested helmet atop locks of flowing hair. The verso of the bezel is stamped with the name "Tiffany & Co." A fabulous and intricately detailed example of Tiffany & Co. artistry! Size: 0.625" W x 3.3" H (1.6 cm x 8.4 cm); quality of gold: 24K; total weight: 7.8 g.
