Description
A nice Egyptian bronze figure of Mut, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, wearing tight-fitting gown and striated wig with uraeus surmounted by the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. Her features are attractive and the wig very well detailed. H: 6 7/8 in (17.5 cm). Nice green-brown mottled patinated and mounted on a small antique marble base. Ex collection of Colonel Evans, Sussex UK; Ex collection of Lord William Lever, 1st Viscount of Leverhulme (1851-1925) acquired at Sotheby's, June 1924 at the sale of the Colonel Evans collection; Ex collection of Steven Munger, Jr., acquired at Anderson Galleries in February 1926; thence by descent.
