Description
This woodblock print depicts three geese diving into clouds, in the shadow of a full moon, which dominates the image. The surimono or poetry roughly transcribes to: 'Will it come again --another night like this one? Wild geese and the moon.' It is mitsugiri-ban size measuring 15" high by 5.25" wide. It bears Hiroshige's and its publisher seals, and it is marked with Mr. Adachi's signature on the verso as can be seen in the photos. Mr. Adachi published many of the most famous ukiyo-e works from the 17th and 18th centuries, with respect to the artist's original work. Much of his production dates to c1930-1950. This later edition dates to c1940-1950.
