Description
Europe, ca. 19th century CE. An antique brass reliquary in the form of a beautiful Gothic cathedral facade with a first class relic labeled with the Latin inscription "Ex Velo BVM" (Ex Velo meaning "of the Protecting Veil" and BVM meaning "Blessed Virgin Mary") in a glass fronted circular opening where the facade's rose window is traditionally located, and below, a glass covered painting of a bust of the haloed Virgin wearing blue in profile before an ethereal landscape -signed Olvin on the lower right. First class relics are related to the Holy Family or Christ's Passion. Size: 2.875" W x 4.875" H (7.3 cm x 12.4 cm)
