This is an oil on canvas painting by Sophie Rofoler. Made in 1894 and measuring 34 x 44 inches in it's frame, this piece depicts two marketers packed for a journey with their donkey. The donkey's back is packed with what appears to be vegetables, while both people are holding items such as a jug of a liquid and a basket containing some other form of food. This group is walking along a rocky path, with clouds in the distance indicating a storm is approaching. The grass surrounding their pathway is blowing as well, indicating that the wind is picking up fast. The artist use of color and detail help bring out the realistic aspects of this painting, as both the people walking and the nature that surrounds them is true to life. This piece has been signed by Sophie Rofoler herself.
