A French Empire Bergere Attributed to Jacob-Desmalter et Cie
(François Honoré Georges Jacob-Desmalter, 1770-1841), circa 1810, mahogany, crest with applied ormolu mounts, turned arm rails terminating in palm leaf and rosette ormolu supported by a recessed paneled column with repeating ormolu mounts to seat rail with rear splayed legs, underside of frame marked No. 208 and stamped 'P' to left and right seat rails, later red and gold woven upholstery with a loose down cushion.
37 x 25 x 20.5 in.
Jacob-Desmalter was the principal supplier of furniture to the French Empire during Napoleon's reign.
