A South Swedish peasantry "Rölakan" embroidery bedcover from the Skåne region. All over octogones with women figures, star-, bird- and flower-motifs in geometrical shapes. According to the tradition, woven in two lanes with the classical interlocked tapestry technic and sewn together. Most likely made as wedding present.
Mounted on red linen. Owner initials C N B(at lower right corner), early 19th century. 171 x 125 cm.
