Alexander O. Levy (German-American, 1881-1947), "Klondikers." 1936. Screen photogravure with Remarque in margin. A moving tribute to the Klondike Gold Rush in Alaska and Western Canada by Alex Levy. Levy was born in Bonn, Germany, immigrated to the United States in 1884, and studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy with Frank Duveneck and at the New York School of Fine Art with none other than American Impressionist William Merritt Chase (1849-1916). He participated in numerous art activities throughout the United States in the 1920s and 1930s while working as an illustrator, commercial artist, and painter in the Buffalo and Rochester areas of New York State. Size: 9.25" L x 12.25" W (23.5 cm x 31.1 cm); sheet measures 14.875" L x 16.375" W (37.8 cm x 41.6 cm)
