AN AMERICAN FEDERAL STYLE MAHOGANY AND SPANISH CEDAR CANDLE STAND, MID 19TH CENTURY, the oval top, over a ring turned Neoclassical style vasiform standard, issuing three grooved cabriole legs. Height: 28" Width: 22 1/8" Depth: 14 1/8" Provenance: Collection of Captain John Melmoth Dow.
Condition
General expected surface wear including scratches, dents, and mild chip losses. The top likely replaced sometime in the early 20th century, has been refinished, and has traces of original paint underneath. Some glue residue at joints. Apparent repairs to legs. Pieces may not all be original to design and likely married at a later date. Overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
