A CONTINENTAL POLYCHROME SILK NEEDLEWORK PANEL, POSSIBLY FRENCH, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, in a finely stitched Louis XVI style with a circular petal form parasol suspending billowing ribbon and a looped brown cord tied flower filled basket, within an oval acanthus stems border above a pair of scrolling foliate branches draping an intricately detailed blossoming garland, on a striped silk ground, within a carved gilt wood and glazed frame with neutral textured silk matting. Height: 29 3/4" Width: 21 1/8"
Condition
Some fading throughout, some water residue marking on right side, two folding creases, this panel is probably from a wall covering and regardless of any issues, is a beautiful example of intricate silk work,
