Description
Watercolor on paper titled "Play One Sheep" 1959. 23 3/4 x 11 1/4 in. (Framed), 18 x 5 3/4 in. (Sight). The following information was taken from The Jerusalem Post & schatz.co.il.- " McClure was born in Vancouver, but her family moved to Minnesota when she was three. A graduate of the art school of the University of California, she worked in the drafting office of a San Francisco shipyard between 1943-45, as did Jerusalem-born Bezalel "Lilik" Schatz, who had remained in the US after his father's death; they were married in 1948. Louise had exhibited with the noted Californian Group of Seven. She and Lilik were close to author Henry Miller, the lover of Louise's sister." " Louise took part in many art exhibitions in Israel and abroad. Her works are held by the Israel, Tel Aviv, and Haifa Museums, and in private collections in Israel, the U.S., England, Switzerland, France, and Italy. Following her husband’s death in 1978, Louise continued to live with her sister-in-law, Zohara, at the family home in Jerusalem on Schatz Street. Louise died in Jerusalem in 1997."
Condition
The work is in good condition. The matting is worn and needs to be replaced.
