EVA AULD WATSON (1867-1935) Jungle Peace. Pencil signed 70/75. 10 1/2 x 8 1/4 in. Eva Watson was born in 1889. She and her husband Ernest both worked in printmaking, which requires the carving of several blocks for superimposing different colors. Her subject matter is nature in its varied forms--birds, flowers, snow and water. Her work is found in many museums, including the Los Angeles County Museum. Watson was also a painter; her murals can be found in many churches. She died in 1948. Her work earned an Honorable Mention at the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition. In October 1931, the Indianapolis Museum of Art mounted the exhibition Color Prints by Ernest and Eva Auld Watson and the following December this exhibition was mounted at the U.S. National Museum, Smithsonian Institute.
