Egyptian Scarabs Mounted as Earrings, Early New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, c. 1350 B.C.
Scarabs attached to a modern hoop earrings, one with an inscribed figure of a King hunting with a bow and arrow and wearing the blue crown with a nefer sign behind him, the second inscribed with a mirror image of two cobras hanging from wings flanking a good luck sign. Modern gold ear hoops, probably 20th century.
Size:Scarabs = 1.4 cm L - 9/16 inch each (excluding loops)
Material:Steatite
Culture:Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, c. 1350 B.C.
Provenance: British collection, acquired in the 1970s-1980s.
