LUCAN LORD: (1934-????) Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan. British Peer and suspected murderer, disappeared without trace in November 1974. Rare T.L.S., Lucan, one page, 8vo, Lower Belgrave Street, London, 21st August 1968, to Richard Wingert. Lucan thanks his correspondent for their letter and continues 'I am afraid I cannot help you over Colonel Robert Tracy', explaining 'My family's connection with Patrick Sarsfield is extremely remote; Sarsfield's elder brother William had a grand-daughter, Anne Vesey, who married Sir John Bingham, 5th Baronet, who died in 1749. Sir John's second son, the 7th Baronet, was created Earl of Lucan in 1795'. With a brief annotation and date in the hand of Wingert at the head of the page. About EX £500-800
