Description
A large hand painted regimental tea cup, decorated with banners and a helmet, around which is written the motto "virtus sola bonorum corona", which belongs to Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg, is German Student Corps at the University of Heidelberg. Reverse shows a list of last names in two columns, presumably members of a class. The saucer is personalized "C.v. Könneritz, s/m, M.F. Halliday, Heidelberg, 11-13-1847". Possibly this refers to a British painter, Michael Frederick Halliday (1822-1869).
