Description
Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A beautiful gessoed cartonnage broad collar of a semicircular form with a small neck groove and a singular tab along the upper rim. Nine concentric semicircles droop between the slender rectangular top panels, each with an alternating base color of cobalt blue and crimson save for the lowest bar which bears a pale turquoise hue. Repeating motifs of spherical, droplet, and lotus blossom forms accentuate the interior of each curved band in ruby, cream, sapphire, and citrine hues. A fine example of symbolic funerary attire for a mummy! Size: 11.875" W x 6.875" H (30.2 cm x 17.5 cm).
