A large, very expertly and finely molded figurine of characters from Shakespeare’s Winter’s Tale. This is one of the finest molded Staffordshire figurines I’ve ever seen.; A low fired ceramic that has been molded into a design of a couple from Shakespeare’s A Winter’s Tale. The molding is deep and elaborate with clothing folds, flowers and tree trunk. The painting is fine and delicate with good line quality accenting the figures. The painting is done with brown hair, red and green leaves and gold clothing accents. Black has been used for the wording and the shoes. Red lips, black eyes and rosy cheeks give the facial features life. The throat of the slip vase is a rosy pink. There are embellishments of finely granulated painted grasses and leaves. The base has a nice rocky modeled look.; There is an old red and white paper label on the base but it doesn’t have any writing. The writing must have been worn off long ago.; MEASUREMENTS; 11 ½” (29.2 cm) tall x 6” (15.2 cm) wide x 4 ¼” (10.8 cm) deep. Weighs 2 lb 10.9 oz (1215 g); CONDITION; There are no breaks or cracks. There is a chip out of the top most set of leaves or else it’s a knot in the branch. I’m not sure because it’s dark and doesn’t look like a break. The gilding is slightly worn but still shows nice glitter.; A beautiful, elegant slip vase to decorate a collection of Staffordshire or add to age, richness, and substance in your décor. The nice large shape makes a big statement.
