Description
Early Meiji Period Paktong Signed Dressing Mirror with low relief decoration of a family of Cranes and two Turtles under a tree with family Kamons of Maruni Hidari Hanare Tachi Aoi and Maruni Chigai Takanoha. Original black and gold lacquered case and folding stand with same Mons and decoration of flowers and vines, original silk cord, the mirror itself is 14 3/8" (36.5 cm) diam, 19 3/8" (49.2 cm) tall overall, 1/4" (.6 cm) thick, with some corrosion, original casting defect to back of handle; the stand is 30" (76.2 cm) tall, with repaired crest, the stand and case have scuffs and some minor losses to lacquer, separation to corner of case. A fine example of very high quality.
