Description
circa 1910, probably by Polyphon Musikwerke of Leipzig, Germany, his cap painted with initials H.M.S. (His/Her Majesty's Ship). According to several other known examples, placing a coin in the sailor's shirt pocket and holding both of his hands while pushing back his right arm would cause him to wink as he dispensed an electric shock. He would wink his left eye, then his right, and then both eyes would shine at the same time. There are small holes in the eyes behind which light bulbs would have been installed. No apparent maker's marks
