Nodding Automata, c. 1930s
Germany, bassinet basket with two babies, one laughing, the other crying, with composition heads and hands, molded hair, articulated glass eyes and two clockwork motors that cause the happy baby to nod and blink while his bad-tempered brother shakes his head and looks crossly from left to right, ht. approx. 18 x wd. 27 in. (46 x 69 cm), one with repair across nose and temples, the other with minor repair on back of head. Working condition, with key. - Unusual and amusing nodding automata.

Flechtkorb mit 2 Babypuppen, eine lachend und die andere weinend, Köpfe und Hände aus Mischmasse, modellierte Haare, bewegliche Glasaugen. 2 Federwerkmotoren sorgen dafür, daß das glückliche Baby mit dem Kopf nickt und mit den Augen zwinkert, während der schlechtgelaunte Bruder den Kopf schüttelt und ärgerlich nach rechts und links schaut.
