Description
Thomas Heyward, Jr. Legal Summons Signed "Tho Heyward Jr." One page, 7.5" x 12", Charleston, South Carolina; March 18, 1788. A document summoning John Withers to appear at the Court of Common Pleas, to answer to "William Doughty and John Webb, otherwise called Doughty & Webb of a Pleas of Trespass on the case and so forth; also for certain promises and Assumptions by the said John Withers, to the said Doughty & Webb made and not performed to their Damage Ninety Pounds Sterling." Boldly signed by Heyward Jr., although partially obscured by the excess material from the seal on the left margin. Docketing on verso.
Condition:Â Flattened folds, with very light toning at edges. The seal has slightly bled through to the back. Overall very fine.
