Condition: great, commensurate with age. Size: 22 x 9.5This pair of Spanish gilt mirrorsadorned the oil on canvas entitled \"La Infanta Margarita Teresa\". They hung on either side of the painting and were aquired by the current owner of \"La Infanta\" to enhance the beauty of the painting.Margaret Theresa of Spain (1651 - 1673) was, by marriage, the Holy Roman Empress,German Queen, Archduchess of Austria, and Queen of Hungary and Bohemia. She wasthe daughter of King Philip IV of Spain and the elder full-sister of Charles II, the last ofthe Spanish Habsburgs. She is the central figure in the famous painting “Las Meninas\"by Diego Velázquez, and the subject of many of his later paintings.She died at the age of 21, due to weakened health; she had four children and sufferedat least two miscarriages during her marriage. During her last pregnancy, Margaret fell illwith bronchitis, and that led to her early death.Shortly before the birth of Margaret, painter Diego Velázquez returned to the Spanishcourt in Madrid. From 1653 to 1659 he executed a series of portraits of the Infanta.Three of them – \"Infanta Margarita in a Pink Dress\" (1653), \"Infanta Margarita in a SilverDress\" (1656) and “Infanta Margarita in a Blue Dress” (1659) - were sent to the Imperialcourt in Vienna and now are displayed in the Kunsthistorisches Museum.The \"Infanta Margarita Teresa in a Pink Dress\" (1660), formerly credited to Velázquez, isnow considered one of the masterpieces of his son-in-law, Juan Bautista Martínez delMazo.The painting here is an oil on canvas by an unknown artist.
