[14], 173, [1], 230 [i.e. 234], 160, 251, [1], 144, 209-224, [20], 424 pp., wanting initial blank. Containing the Old and New Testaments and the Apocrypha. Nicely bound in modern full calf. First and least leaf lightly soiled, else quite clean throughout with only occasional minor blemishes, a couple of marginal notes in early ink, a Very Good example. ***************************** Scarce early London edition. Tremellius (1510-1580) is known for his translation of the Bible from Hebrew and Syriac into Latin. His version was not without imperfections, but it was considered by the Reformers as the most accurate Latin rendering (DNB.) In this edition, Middleton added Beza's Latin version to that of Tremellius. ESTC locates only 3 copies held by American institutions. [ESTC S4129]
