Theodore Roosevelt & William Taft Signed Military Commission
Large military commission, 21" x 16" with embossed seal to lower left, and large header of "The President of The United States of America". Dated "Second day of May 1907", Boldly signed by President Theodore Roosevelt as "Theodore Roosevelt", and countersigned by William Taft "William Taft" as Secretary of War. Paper is toned with grubbiness along outer margins, small tear to lower edge. Bottom edge with water damage which buckled and discolored the paper. However the text remains unaffected, Roosevelt signature remains strong with only a bid of bleeding/fading to the signature of William Taft. A lovely example of a Roosevelt signed Military commission. This example appointsAvery J. Cooper, to "First Lieutenant in the Artillery Corps". Cooper served in the Artillery Corps and later the Coast Artillery Corps.
Accompanied by First Lieutenant Avery's Diploma on parchment, 15.5" x 19", from The Coast Artillery School, dated "July 31st, 1909". Parchment is toned and water damaged along right edge which has created staining and buckling.
