This lot consists of a gilt-framed, HAND PAINTED watercolor on paper, Hand Signed "C. Kipling" at lower left. Image depicts a charming view of the English countryside, with rolling hills stretching into the distance, soft grey clouds tumbling across the sky above, and a humble thatched roof cottage nestled into the foreground. A woman in historical garb carries her basket through the front gate of her wild little English garden. Tree branches seem to brush against the many-paned windows of the small house. Shadows have been rendered delicately; even the smoke cloud rising from the stout chimney appears realistic and light. Done in the endearing style of the great English landscape painters. Stamps en verso read, "Landscape. 6957. C. Kipling" and "In handling the Frame, please use a pair of Gloves or a soft Handkerchief, as the heat of the hand disturbs the size and defaces the Gilt surface." Overall, this piece measures approximately 22" x 28". Image sight measures approximately 14" x 19.25".

Overall good condition. Some minor cosmetic issues (i.e., chipping) are visible at edges and corners of the old gilt-wood frame. Artwork itself is in excellent condition. No tears, stains, or other serious imperfections.
