Item Details
Description
A stained and leaded glass window from a railroad passenger car circa 1910, the Prairie School influence designs of two stylized white glass flower heads on leaded stems with two flanking umber-colored leaves and two lower square umber-colored blocks of glass within brown leaded glass and panels of green slag glass. The center decoration is a similar though more complex design in the Prairie School style. The Prairie School was a late 19th and early 20th century architectural style most associated with the Mid-west, specifically Chicago. Also known as The Prairie Style, Frank Lloyd Wright and his mentor Chicago architect Louis Sullivan are the most famous designers associated with this style. The Pullman's Palace Car Co. was incorporated in Illinois in 1867.
