Double handled silver plate presentation tray inscribed to Mr. & Mrs. Leaford Williams from Governor Kyung Won Pak. Dated to 1967. It comes with a Letter from the governor of Taegu Korea dated to 16 December 1963. The official letter of thanks is addressed to Mr. Leaford C. Williams Director and Consul of the American Embassy from Kyong Won Pak, Major General, ROK Army. Dimensions are: for the tray 28" long X 16" wide. All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: From the family estate of Leaford C. Williams of Washington D.C. Williams was born on in 1924 in Jamaica. He came to the United States in 1948 where he had a successful career as a foreign service officer, a public affairs officer and as the assistant to director White House Conference on Small Business. He was stationed in Taegu, Korea, and was a cultural attache in Bombay, India. He also served as a public affairs officer American Embassy, Seoul, Korea. In addition to his service, Williams authored several books. Condition: The tray is in overall good condition with some mild age wear. The letter would benefit from reframing.
