Description
A nice Moche polychrome ceramic conchero (corn popper), c. AD 300 - 500, the body round with central hole and long handle terminating in the detailed head of a warrior, wearing conical headdress and large ear spools. The backside of the vessel is adorned with two snakes painted in red-brown on a beige ground. L: 11 ½ in (29.2 cm); W: 7 in (17.8 cm). Well-preserved with light deposits. Ex Collection of Seymour and Sally Olshin; Ex California Museum of Ancient Art de-accession.
