Continental Needlework Coffer

18th century, on a later stand, the domed coffer covered in floral-patterned needlework and fitted to either end with an iron handle, raised on a mahogany stand with turned legs ending in paw feet.

In good "as found" condition. The base is sturdy and functional with minor scattered scrubs, mars and wear. The upholstery on the coffer exhibits wear. There are a number of missing hobnails, rending it loose at some edges, most notably the bottom four inches of each rear corner. There are a number of later mismatching tacks, most notably on the front edge of the lid. Hinges secure. Top opens and closes freely. The lock and hasp are present; a key is not.
