Description
Unknown Manufacturer. Designed by Daniel MacLean Reading, PA - Circa 1878 This bank is so damn perplexing. Why is it called the Rival Bank??? What rivalry are the banks designers referring to??? The rivalry between primates and human beings??? Is it considering the evidence posited by Darwin in his Theory of Evolution??? Are they mocking Darwins hypothesis that humans descend from apes by suggesting that the coin-depositing monkey is as clever as we are??? Someone please explain this one to me!!! At this time, there are only four known specimens of this bizarre toy bank. Steckbeck Collection
