Description
East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A large wheel-thrown pottery storage jar with a flat base, rounded walls with an angled shoulder, a deep interior cavity, and a collared rim fit to hold a lid. The exterior of the body is covered with an impressed lattice pattern which creates a rough gripping texture in the absence of handles. A fine example of ancient utilitarian pottery vessels!
