Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A wonderful ensemble of eight cast bronze belt attachments of shield-like forms - six presenting teardrop-like shapes with decorative borders and two with arrow-like motifs - all but one with prongs on their undersides for attachment. Ornamental pieces like these were made to be worn as part of military uniforms. A fabulous group with gorgeous green and russet patina. Size: largest measure ~ 1.125" H (2.9 cm)
